The sexiest column ever written

human beings go nuts for sexy

Elvis Presley once said: “I’m not trying to be sexy. It’s just my way of expressing myself when I move around”. Not that I am from the era to have seen him actually performing, but I do know that his moves were seen as obscene by the moral knights of those times. The young people, especially girls would go crazy, in the same way they do now for the famous pop stars. However, one thing didn’t change, human beings go nuts for sexy.

But what is sexy?

In 2007 the catch phrase for the new TV show ‘The big bang theory’ was: ‘Smart is the new sexy’. Until that moment sexy was illustrated by a good looking man or women often with good looking or barely any, clothes. Receiving the title sexiest man alive or picked as top model for Victoria’s Secret lingerie show had definitely nothing to do with thick physics books from dusty libraries. But suddenly sapiosexuality appeared. If you don’t know what it means look it up and use it to impress someone.

So, sorry gym guys and girls, sexy not necessarily has to deal with looking good when being naked. According to some people a great sense of humor can easily compensate some tiny or enormous imperfections you see when you look at yourself in the mirror. Some men say the smile and they eyes of a woman can be breathtakingly sexy. Others say that certain accents are sexy. I am still working on a sexy Dutch accent when speaking Spanish or English but so far, without success.

When they asked Tom Jones, the singer, how one can be sexy?, he said: “you need to have something sexy to offer, with me, it is my voice”. Of course the guy has an impressive voice that can go through walls, but, don’t we all have a certain quality that stands out?

A friend of mine told me that her boyfriend has something very sexy. The boyfriend is “a suit guy” and that was how she always saw him. He looked good in it, she admitted, but one morning during breakfast he spoiled coffee and his trousers were ruined; so he had breakfast in his shorts. She said: “he looked terrible, but it was so funny and sexy to see him suffering”.

So what is sexy? Just check out what you are good at and use it; otherwise, you will find it out by accident.
